The Crowded Room: Tom Holland’s Psychological Thriller On Apple TV+

the-crowded-roomIf psychological thrillers are your jam and Tom Holland impressed you with his performance in ‘The Devil All the Time’, Apple TV+ has just the series for you. The Crowded Room, a series loosely based on the 1981 book The Minds of Billy Milligan, will take you to the depths of the human mind like never before.

Tom Holland is cast as Danny Sullivan who has dissociative identity disorder. He takes us back to the 70s and 80s along with the beautiful mind of Akiva Goldman who already has an Oscar for her screenplay adaptation. So it guarantees greatness in storytelling.

When the trailer got released, it looked promising but the execution part wasn’t so great after all.

Tom Holland, who also has dissociative identity disorder (DID), is arrested for a shooting. Danny is confused about his actions and claims he was only partly responsible. As interrogator Rya Goodwin (Amanda Seyfried) probes deeper into Danny’s past, she uncovers the truth about his condition and the events leading up to the shooting.

Now a series like this, you can expect a slow pace but in some places that’s unbearable. It will also let you down with a very predictable plot and some underdeveloped characters but Holland did his part and he is phenomenal on screen.

The direction and production are off the charts. The storyline is also complex but it gets lost plenty of times. The series had the potential to be disturbing as if now, it sort of feels disappointing.
