Disney’s live adaptation fever is far from over, and the success of “The Little Mermaid” will fuel their venture in this category. If you missed the opportunity to witness it on the big screen, don’t worry, as Disney will soon bring it to their online platforms.
The 1989 adaptation of the film is considered one of the classics, but the live-action version has received mixed opinions. From the very first moment, it was accompanied by controversies, but in the box office, Rob Marshall’s vision grossed $542M.
“The Little Mermaid” is the tale of Ariel, a curious mermaid longing for adventure and falling in love with Prince Eric. Despite forbidden interactions, she follows her heart and strikes a risky deal with the sea witch, Ursula, risking her life and her father’s kingdom for love.
Halle Bailey, part of R&B duo Chloe x Halle, stars as undersea princess Ariel in “The Little Mermaid” alongside names like Javier Bardem, Jonah Hauer-King, Melissa McCarthy, Jessica Alexander, Daveed Diggs, Jacob Tremblay, Awkwafina, and Noma Dumezweni.
The movie is available for rental and purchase from July 25th onwards. As for Disney’s platforms, “The Little Mermaid” will surface as soon as September 6th. Disney will also make the 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD available on September 19th.
