The basic storyline of the film revolves around Christian, a museum curator. Christian’s phone and wallet get stolen in a public space and thus he goes on a journey of confronting the norms and complications of art and society.

As Christian goes deeper into the search, he faces a range of characters and situations that truly plays with the concept of trust, responsibility, love, and human behavior.

Through the very first frame, the square takes a satirical approach to society, even pointing to the absurdity that modern art can be. The film addresses various issues such as the nature of art, the concept of power, and everything and anything that is stereotypical.

Ruben Östlund’s The Square is not an answer to anything but it raises more questions than the answer. The film explores the blurred line of every boundary and Christian is the torch-bearer of the theme.
