Woke Whitewashing Of Iconic Character At Netflix

Avatar The Last Airbender

Netflix has done what it is known for doing. The streaming giant has again deviated from the original nature of a character from its source material.

The latest addition to this tradition is Sokka from the live adaptation of ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’. The animated version first aired in 2005 and was a hit. Now, more than a decade and a half later, fans have got the live-action adaptation, but things are different from the original.

Sokka, the sixteen-year-old, who has joined Aang on his mission along with his sister, used to be sexist in the original show. But, in the new adaptation, there is no trace of the original nature of his.

Netflix and its advocates might argue with literary independence and how things have to change with time. But, fans of the original would have loved it if Netflix had stuck with the reality rather than the woke agenda that could be easily found in many of the contents on the streaming service, especially those targeted at younger audiences.
