In a twist of events, the highly anticipated six-part docu-series, Koose Munisamy Veerappan – Unseen Veerappan Tapes, is set to stream on Zee5 not on its originally scheduled date of December 8 but now on December 14. The series claims to showcase never-before-seen interview footage of the infamous forest brigand, Veerappan.
The highlight of the series is the inclusion of exclusive video interview clips with Veerappan, as confirmed by journalist Nakkheeran Gopal, who had extensive interactions with the notorious poacher and bandit. Directed by Sharath Jothi, the show promises a captivating exploration of Veerappan’s life through these unreleased tapes.
The decision to postpone the release is attributed to the presence of two major releases on other platforms—The Archies on December 7 and Jigarthanda DoubleX on December 8. This strategic move aims to avoid competition and ensure the maximum audience engagement for the docu-series.
The official synopsis reads, “Explore the intriguing life of Veerappan as he guides us through his journey using never-before-seen video tapes. Gain new insights through the perspectives of eminent personalities, enhanced with a captivating reimagination of events in this documentary series.” The series will be available in Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, and Hindi.
Featuring interviews with key figures such as Nakkheeran Gopal, Seeman, N Ram, and others who had direct interactions with Veerappan or were involved in operations to capture him, the docu-series promises a comprehensive view of the notorious criminal’s life.
Koose Munisamy Veerappan – Unseen Veerappan Tapes joins a series of films and documentaries on the bandit, including AMR Ramesh’s bilingual Vanayudham/Attahasa and Ram Gopal Varma’s Killing Veerappan.
AMR Ramesh is currently working on a web series delving into the details of Veerappan’s life and the government operations to capture him.
