Big Cast, Bigger Pressure on Director

Akshay Kumar, Varun Dhawan & John Abraham Reunites For Dishoom 2

Akshay Kumar, Varun Dhawan, and John Abraham may not be enjoying their best phase at the box office right now, but seeing all three come together still sparks excitement among Bollywood fans.

Their previous collaboration in Dishoom (2016) was an okay action-comedy – not a blockbuster but watchable for one time. Akshay had a guest appearance in that film and his presence added the spark.

Now with all three coming together again, expectations are high. But the big question mark is over the director Rohit Dhawan.

He directed the first Dishoom and has not had much luck since. His track record is pathetic; none of his films have worked.

His last film Shehzada was a commercial and critical disaster despite being a remake of a hit Telugu film.

So the question is can he deliver a hit with this promising cast? The combination of Akshay, John and Varun is strong.

If the film is well made with good action, comedy and witty dialogues it can work at the box office. Audiences today want entertainment and this trio can deliver that.

But everything depends on the script and direction. A weak story or poor execution can turn this promising project into another forgettable film.

In short while the cast is exciting the director’s track record is shaky so the film’s success is not guaranteed.

The makers will have to focus on strong storytelling and entertaining to make this film stand out.
