Amit Sial has impressed audiences with his unique roles in films like Raid 2 and OTT shows such as Mirzapur and The Hunt. Now, reports suggest he has been finalised to play Sugriv in Ramayana, with filming expected to begin this month in Mumbai.
Director Nitesh Tiwari has not confirmed Amit’s casting, but the scale of Ramayana suggests it could be a turning point in his career. If his performance as Sugriv is appreciated, it may open new opportunities for him in mainstream cinema.
In the epic, Sugriv helps Lord Ram search for Sita with his army of Vanaras, in return for Ram aiding him against his brother Bali. The character plays a crucial role in setting up the war between Ram and Ravana.
Since Ramayana will be released in two parts, not every character is likely to appear in the first installment. Sugriv’s story connects directly to the war, so Amit Sial’s role may only unfold in the second part of the film.
With several big names already attached to the project, it remains to be seen how much screen space Amit will receive. Fans will now wait for official updates from the makers to know more about his presence in this magnum opus.
