Bad Friday for Bollywood: Big BO Flop Loading?

Anurag Basu's Metro In Dino Flops? Jurassic World Rebirth Rules Box Offixe

As another Friday has struck the calendar, a new Bollywood film is ready to take over the cinemas. This time, it is Anurag Basu’s Metro…In Dino, which offers various sides of love and heartbreak.

Catching up with the 2007 Romantic drama Life in a…Metro, the latest installment of the franchise, seems to have a slow start at the box office.

With around 2k tickets selling per hour on BookMyShow, this is not something that the makers would have expected.

The film sold almost 18,500 tickets at PVR-INOX-Cinepolis chains just one day before its release, which is again a worrying number.

Made on a budget of around 90-100 crores, the film is looking for a poor start at around 3-4 crores. Given the talented cast and overall budget, the ideal opening should have been around 8-9 crores.

The trailer of the film garnered huge craze as people praised the concept and idea of the film. The promotional campaigns were also full-fledged for the film, so there is no problem with the film’s execution and promotions.

The main problem might lie in the fact that it is another franchise film, and audiences are slowly getting bored with franchises in Bollywood. Given the fact that the film is a part of the franchise, which was released back in 2007, it might have made the viewers skip the film.

As fans demand content and fresher ideas, Metro…In Dino might feature new content, but being a part of the franchise makes it weak and repetitive.

As the early reviews have been decent for the film, it remains to be seen how it performs after having a poor start. In contrast, Jurassic World Rebirth looked for a jumbo opening of around 8-10 crores.

With such tough competition, positive word of mouth is essential for the Romantic drama to sustain at the box office and recover the budget in the days ahead.
