The trailer for Chhorii 2 was revealed a few days ago and it will be coming to OTT soon. The Nushrratt Bharuccha starrer will be a direct-to-OTT release and it is going to come out on Prime Video on the 11th of April.
But this looks like a wonderful opportunity missed. The movie could have done well in theaters if it were to take up this risk.
The first movie was a remake of a Marathi movie named Lapachhapi and it did not do very well at the box office when it was released. But the movie gained word of mouth later on and worked out well on OTT.
Despite being a remake, Chhorii earned a name as a well-executed and suspenseful movie and the sequel could cash in on that. The same team will be returning with the sequel and there will be more actors like Soha Ali Khan.
Indian horror movies have been doing quite well for the past few years. Movies like Stree 2 and Shaitaan have worked out wonderfully, and it looks like a comparatively safe Genre for the box office.
People have been excited with the second part of Chhorii and with proper marketing, the movie could have impressed audiences. But instead, the makers went for a direct-to-OTT release and misses a pretty good chance.
