Veteran actor Dalip Tahil recently shared some hilarious and surprising moments from the sets of the iconic 1993 thriller Baazigar, starring Shah Rukh Khan.
Tahil, who played the ruthless Madan Chopra, revealed that despite Baazigar’s dark storyline, Shah Rukh Khan was a complete prankster. He kept everyone laughing with his jokes and playful antics, making even intense scenes lighter behind the camera.
He recalled a particular scene where SRK had to confront him aggressively. But every time the camera rolled, Shah Rukh would switch to a funny voice or make a silly face, causing everyone including the usually serious directors Abbas-Mustan to burst out laughing.
One of Tahil’s favorite memories was shooting the thrilling car race scenes in the film. He shared that both he and Shah Rukh loved racing and fast cars, and they often bonded off-camera discussing their favorite vehicles and driving techniques.
He said the adrenaline rush during those high-speed sequences was one of the highlights of the shoot and helped him and SRK connect on a personal level.
Tahil also revealed that many on set were worried the film would flop. They thought audiences wouldn’t accept a hero with such a dark, negative role.
But Shah Rukh was completely confident, always saying that people would love the story and the new kind of hero he was playing. His belief never wavered, even when experienced crew members had doubts.
Reflecting on Baazigar’s blockbuster success, Tahil credited the combination of intense performances, true camaraderie, and Shah Rukh’s fearless confidence.
He said it was this unique energy on set that helped turn a risky project into one of Bollywood’s biggest and most beloved hits.
These candid memories show that beyond Baazigar’s suspenseful story was a set full of laughter, excitement, and faith elements that helped create a timeless classic still loved by fans today.
