Ajay Devgn’s Son of Sardar 2 (SOS2) and Dhadak 2 are set to clash at the box office tomorrow, but the excitement surrounding both releases appears to be underwhelming. SOS2, which was originally slated for July 25, was pushed to August 1 without any official reason, though many fans believe the move was influenced by the strong momentum of Saiyaara.
The new release date puts SOS2 in direct competition with Dhadak 2, starring Triptii Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi. Unfortunately, both films seem to be suffering from the same issue — low buzz and lackluster audience interest.
Trade analysts report that advance bookings for both titles have been slow, and it is unlikely either film will cross ₹10 crore on opening day. Even Buy-One-Get-One-Free ticket offers on platforms like BookMyShow have failed to significantly boost early sales.
Adding to their challenges, screens remain limited. The continued dominance of Saiyaara and Mahavatar Narsimha has left fewer premium slots for the new releases. This screen crunch, coupled with muted promotions, has left the films struggling to capture attention.
Fans have also noted that the additional week gained by delaying SOS2 wasn’t fully utilized to strengthen marketing or promotional efforts. Meanwhile, although Dhadak 2 initially generated positive reactions to its trailer and songs, the lack of consistent follow-up promotions caused its early buzz to fade.
While low pre-release excitement is a concern, box office performance will ultimately depend on audience word of mouth after release. If either film delivers engaging content, it could still turn the tide in its favor.
For now, all eyes are on the opening weekend to see whether Dhadak 2 or Son of Sardar 2 can overcome the odds and justify the wait.
