Will Audience Support Kangana Ranaut Like Aditya Dhar?

In recent years, Hindi cinema has increasingly turned toward real-life events and historical moments for storytelling, while sometimes spreading narratives that critics say carry propaganda elements.

Such films often revisit incidents that left a deep mark on the country and attempt to highlight lesser-known stories of courage and sacrifice. At the same time, audiences expect responsibility and balance when filmmakers choose sensitive historical subjects.

Actor and filmmaker Kangana Ranaut is continuing her interest in real event-based cinema with her upcoming film Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata.

The film is reportedly based on the incident at Cama and Albless Hospital during the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. During the attacks, terrorists including Ajmal Kasab targeted several locations across the city, and the hospital became one of the early flashpoints.

According to reports, hospital staff showed remarkable presence of mind by switching off lights, closing doors and windows, and moving patients to safer areas in order to prevent further casualties.

The film is said to focus on these hospital workers, particularly the blue-collar staff, who quietly protected patients despite the fear and chaos around them. Kangana Ranaut will reportedly play a staff nurse, and the project aims to portray the bravery of these often-overlooked individuals.

Kangana Ranaut’s recent films such as Emergency, Tejas, and Dhaakad flopped badly at the box office, and some critics feel that political narratives may again dominate the storytelling.

Dhurandhar 2 recently gained a lot of support from a section of the audience by showing the Congress government in a poor light. Kangana, being a BJP leader, will likely try to build her own narrative against the Congress government that was in power when the 26/11 incident happened. We have to see if the audience will accept Kangana Ranaut’s narrative the way they accepted Aditya Dhar’s in Dhurandhar.

Whether Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata becomes a balanced tribute to unsung heroes or another polarizing film will likely depend on how sensitively the real events are portrayed on screen.
