Aamir Khan’s Next Shelved Over India-Pak Tensions

Aamir Khan’s latest production, Lahore 1947, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, is making headlines after the filmmakers delayed its release once again.

The movie, set around the partition of India and Pakistan, was slated for release after Aamir’s recent Sitaare Zameen Par.

However, due to the current strained relations between the two countries following the recent Pahalgam terror attack, there’s uncertainty if the film will be released any time soon.

Industry insiders close to the project revealed that the timing for the film’s release is considered sensitive, especially considering that people aren’t open to consuming or associating with anything that has to do with Pakistan.

Makers believe that in a heightened political atmosphere, a film titled Lahore 1947 could provoke a lot of controversy and backlash.

There’s a possibility that the makers won’t release the film until diplomatic tensions between the two nations are at ease.

Many have suggested changing the film’s name to facilitate an easy release; however, director Rajkumar Santoshi has refused to do so, insisting that the film will only be released if it retains its original title.




While fans and the industry remain curious about what the film holds, as of now the future of Lahore 1947 hangs in the balance, awaiting for the political climate to ease down before its debut.
