Talented Directors To Save Bollywood

Hindi cinema has witnessed a big change since last year and the reason is some talented directors whose work left a positive impact, pulling audiences back to the theatres.

The first in the list is Laxman Utekar. The director decided to go on a completely different path with Chhaava this year, considering that he is known for directing romantic-drama films. Maybe no one expected him to handle a historical drama flawlessly, and Laxman proved everyone wrong.

Then there is Amar Kaushik, under whose direction Stree 2 emerged as the highest-grossing film of 2024. People were possibly not expecting a horror-comedy to collect more than Rs. 500 crores at the box office.

Moreover, Amar has already become an important part of Dinesh Vijan’s Horror Comedy Universe. With eight films on the way, let’s wait and see if we will get to see Amar trying something else in the successful franchise in the upcoming years.

While Imtiaz Ali’s last few films did not do so well in terms of collections and reviews, he left an impression with Amar Singh Chamkila last year. He took extra care this time with the best music and added the elements of heartbreak, rebellion, and more.

Vikas Bahl has also been an underrated director and he proved it last year with Shaitaan, which was another successful film of 2024 in the horror genre before Stree 2 and Munjya. The main theme focused on something that we have been told by our parents for generations.

The last in the list is Aditya Sarpotdar, who directed Munjya. Despite being a product from the house of Dinesh Vijan and Maddock Films, there were no heavy promotions, and it collected more than Rs. 100 crores at the box office. Moreover, the dance number Taras, featuring Sharvari Wagh, also created a lot of hype.

With multiple films being planned, it seems like the above-mentioned directors can end the dry phase at the box office in case the film industry is going through a bad time. Let’s wait and see if they can bring back the days of multiple blockbusters in a particular year.
