Director Madhur Bhandarkar will soon bring another story to the big screen I the form of The Wives. Shooting for Madhur’s new film has started on July 8, 2025, and it will focus on the lives of the star wives of Bollywood.
The Wives will attempt to bring the secrets, conflicts, and a lot of other things that remain hidden in the world of glamour. Madhur said that he is aiming to show a different side of society to the audience and bring the reality, where voices of women are not easily heard by anyone.
Notably, the lead cast has also been finalized for The Wives, which include Sonali Kulkarni, Mouni Roy, Regina Cassandra, Rahul Bhatt, Saurabh Sachdeva, Arjan Bajwa, and Freddy Daruwala.
Apart from Bhandarkar Entertainment, PJ Motion Pictures will be involved with the film. The latter is owned by Pranav Jain, who is joining Madhur for their second film together after India Lockdown, which was released on Zee5. However, a release date is yet to be confirmed.
There was a time when audiences used to wait for Madhur Bhandarkar’s films. While the situation of Hindi cinema changed over the years with more focus on commercial elements, the excitement did not exist.
However, there is still a lot of scope for Madhur’s film to attract huge crowds since the director is aiming to show the truth to the audience. Madhur is a director who might take cinematic liberty, but he won’t add anything that audiences might find hard to believe.
Although action and masala films are usually the first choice nowadays, people also like to see movies that bring the reality in front of them. It’s one of the reasons why The Kashmir Files and The Kerala Story did more than expected business at the box office.
