After months of speculation following his comments about Bollywood’s
“toxic” culture and creative stagnation, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap is
back in full swing with the first look of his upcoming film
Nishaanchi.
With a September 19, 2025, release date, the film is expected to be a
gritty crime drama—a genre Anurag is famously known for.
Backed by Amazon MGM Studios and produced by Ajay Rai and Ranjan Singh
under Jar Pictures and Flip Films, Nishaanchi is generating major buzz
for more than just its director.
The film marks the acting debut of Aaishvary Thackrey, along with
stars Vedika Pinto, Monika Panwar, Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub, and Kumud
Mishra.
What’s making the most noise is the teaser’s background score that’s
already been titled as a banger, and the visuals promise a cinematic
intensity that seems to have disappeared from Bollywood.
Despite relocating to the South Film industry and expressing
disillusionment with the Hindi Film industry, Anurag’s creative
passion for a good Bollywood film is still alive.
Critics may have doubted Anurag’s return to his roots, but Nishaanchi
is a statement: Anurag Kashyap is back, and he’s not holding back.
