In 2006, Vishal Bharadwaj’s Omkara made waves with Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor in lead roles. Among the multistarrer cast, Saif Ali Khan’s Langda Tyagi stood out and became one of his most iconic performances. The film remains a cult favourite even today.
Film journalist Himesh Mankad revealed that producers Kumar Mangat and Abhishek Pathak are working on a spin-off centred on Langda Tyagi. The original Omkara was adapted from Shakespeare’s Othello, and now its menacing character is set to return with a fresh story.
The role will be handed to a younger actor, with the makers aiming to recreate the same impact Saif Ali Khan delivered. Interestingly, the role was first offered to Aamir Khan, who declined, before Saif immortalised it with his powerful act.
Speculation has already begun about who will play Langda Tyagi in the new film. Some fans feel Ibrahim Ali Khan has the looks to match, but many believe he lacks the depth to take on such a layered role. Discussions around casting remain intense.
The project is planned to go on floors in 2026, and excitement is building steadily. With Langda Tyagi returning in a new avatar, fans are eager to see how this spin-off shapes up on the big screen.
