Bollywood’s upcoming film Param Sundari, starring Janhvi Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra, has landed in controversy even before its release. The makers, known for Stree and Chhaava, are facing protests from a section of the Christian community over a specific scene.
According to the complaint, the disputed sequence depicts a flirty exchange between the lead characters inside a church. The religious group claims the scene disrespects the sanctity of a place of worship and has demanded it be removed before release.
The organisation has submitted a formal letter to multiple authorities, including the Central Board of Film Certification, Mumbai Police, the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, and the Maharashtra government, seeking immediate action to ensure the scene is edited out.
They argue that such portrayals can offend religious sentiments and create unnecessary tensions. The group has urged filmmakers to handle cultural and religious subjects with greater sensitivity while making content intended for a wide audience.
So far, the makers of Param Sundari have not issued any public response. Industry reports suggest the production team might consider changes to the film to avoid certification delays or further controversy before its scheduled release.
Bollywood has faced similar disputes in the past, with several films forced to alter or remove scenes following protests. The pending CBFC certification will now determine how this latest controversy impacts the film’s release timeline.
