Veteran actor Paresh Rawal has surprised fans by revealing that he turned down a key role in Ajay Devgn’s upcoming thriller Drishyam 3, even though he liked the script.
In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Paresh shared that the makers had approached him for a pivotal role in the film. However, he said the part didn’t feel right for him. “Maza nahin aaya,” he admitted, adding that the script itself was “very good” and impressed him.
Drishyam 3, the third film in the popular franchise, will continue the Salgaonkar family’s gripping crime saga. Starring Ajay Devgn, the film is slated for a 2026 release after the 2022 sequel grossed over ₹350 crore worldwide.
Paresh’s decision to skip the project has raised eyebrows, with many wondering if he received better offers around the same time. The move has also triggered a debate online, where some accused him of choosing political or propaganda-driven films over strong scripts.
His next film, The Taj Story, has already sparked controversy. The trailer and poster which depict a Shiva idol inside the Taj Mahal have drawn criticism and raised religious concerns. Paresh clarified that the film is based on historical interpretations and avoids religious provocation, but audiences remain skeptical.
Fans who admired Paresh for his powerful performances expressed disappointment, saying he passed up a meaningful role in Drishyam 3 for a film that might invite unnecessary controversy. As The Taj Story nears its October 31 release, the veteran actor’s career choices continue to divide opinion among his own followers.
