Rajkummar Rao has continued experimenting in all ways possible, and this time, audiences will get to see him playing the role of Sourav Ganguly. The biopic will be directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, and as per the latest update, the popular cricketer shared his opinion on Rajkummar playing the role.
Rajkummar will start taking training for his role from October this year, and Sourav Ganguly stated in an interview that no one can portray the character better than Rajkummar.
The actor said in his response that he was satisfied after hearing Sourav Ganguly’s words. He further stated that although it will be a challenging role and a big responsibility for him, he will try to ensure that he does not let anyone down.
The film was supposed to go on floors by this year. However, the makers have now postponed the production to January 2026 since Vikramaditya Motwane does not want to compromise with the script in any manner. Although the film is not titled yet, it will arrive on the big screen in December next year.
With Rajkummar and Vikramaditya joining hands for a biopic, it seems like audiences will get to see something good and entertaining in theatres. While no promotional material has been released until now, there are doubts about the film’s success.
The major reason is the failure of biopics in recent times. Films like Maidaan and Chandu Champion could not make an impact at the box office despite that they had elements to make the audiences feel connected to the main characters.
But it will be wrong to say that audiences are not interested in watching biopics. People are ready to purchase tickets if they don’t see an overdose of the same genre. Sourav Ganguly’s biopic has more than a year left for release, and things might change by then.
