Ranbir Kapoor in Ramayana update

During the film’s promotional tour in the United States, Ranbir spoke about the massive scale of bringing the ancient Indian epic to the big screen.

According to him, the story of Ramayana is so expansive that even a two-part film series feels limited compared to the depth of the original tale.

Ranbir said the epic could have easily been developed into a 10-part franchise.

This highlights the challenge faced by Nitesh Tiwari and the creative team while deciding which chapters and moments deserved a place in the final films.

The makers have focused on creating a cinematic experience while staying connected to the essence of the original story.

Playing the role of Lord Ram, Ranbir is leading a star cast that includes Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman.

The film also features several well-known names including Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, Rakul Preet Singh, Kajal Aggarwal, Vivek Oberoi and Amitabh Bachchan among others.

Produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in collaboration with Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, Ramayana is planned as a two-part theatrical release.

The first part is scheduled to arrive during Diwali 2026, while the second chapter is expected to hit theatres during Diwali 2027.

The project has already created massive buzz among audiences due to its scale, visual ambition and star power.

With the sequel moving ahead at a fast pace, expectations around the franchise continue to grow as the audience waits to see how the timeless story is presented on the big screen.
