The first Friday of August 2025 has brought a major box office clash, with Ajay Devgn’s Son of Sardaar 2 and Siddhant Chaturvedi’s Dhadak 2 hitting theatres. However, instead of ruling the weekend, the spotlight has shifted to older releases that continue to outperform the newcomers.
As per early trends on August 1, both Saiyaara and Mahavatar Narsimha are holding strong at the box office. Saiyaara, now in its third week, remains a top choice for audiences, while Mahavatar Narsimha, just a week old, continues to show impressive momentum. Their collections have already surpassed those of SOS 2 and Dhadak 2, putting the new releases in a tough spot.
Audience preference is clear — strong content is keeping Saiyaara and Narsimha alive at the box office. Meanwhile, Son of Sardaar 2 has struggled to generate hype, with its promotional material failing to excite viewers. In contrast, Dhadak 2 has fared slightly better, with its songs trending and early reviews being more favorable compared to SOS 2. Still, whether it can sustain momentum and cross ₹50 crore by the end of the week remains uncertain.
Adding to the competition, certain theatres continue to screen Hollywood blockbusters like Superman, F1, Fantastic Four: First Steps, and Jurassic World: Rebirth. This crowded lineup makes it even harder for Dhadak 2 and SOS 2 to find breathing room.
At this stage, it seems Saiyaara and Mahavatar Narsimha have the upper hand. Unless the new releases pick up momentum quickly, they risk being overshadowed entirely. The coming week will determine whether Dhadak 2 and Son of Sardaar 2 can recover or stumble further at the box office.
