Saiyaara’s success has shocked Bollywood and most of it’s superstar’s unlike any film in recent times.
The conversation following the film’s release had largely been around the rise of Bollywood’s romance genre especially after 2015 when the industry shifted it’s focus on the action genre.

These films were seen as a hopeful effort to revive the rom-com genre even though their commercial successes are nowhere near to what the veteran superstar’s managed to pull off in the past.
The surprise now however, is Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara. Despite featuring completely new faces the film has shattered all recent records in the the romance genre, grossing over Rs 84.5 crore in it’s opening weekend.
The film has managed to pull off a significant shift just with a heartfelt story that resonated with today’s youth and has defied the stereotype that big stars are essential for overall success of romance films.
Trade analysts believe that the audience has been yearning for an for an authentic love story for quite sometime now.
These demands however were completely overshadowed by action blockbusters and edgy relationship stereotypes.
