Sitaare Zameen Par was supposed to be a lighthearted comedy drama that would give the audiences a much-needed break from the regular, typical Bollywood films.
Well, this definitely happened, but the Aamir Khan-Genelia D’souza starrer also found itself embroiled in multiple criticisms and controversies.
Many were left shocked during this week because the film’s Monday collections plunged to Rs 7 crore, followed by a mere Rs 6.50 crore. This marked a steep 74% drop for the film post-weekend.
While many suggest that inflated numbers and corporate bookings are being used to maintain the illusion of a “strong hold,” producers have allegedly begun aligning with inflated tracker figures.
Isn’t this less about organic audience pull and more about optics management? We don’t know yet!
Adding fuel to the fire, a viral social media tweet has accused Housefull 5 producer Sajid Nadiadwala of starting a hatred campaign against Sitaare Zameen Par by allegedly paying influencers to call its collections fake.
Some say that this has been reportedly done to shift attention from Housefull 5’s underwhelming Rs 150 crore net haul and reported 90 crore loss.
Meanwhile, many still defend that Sitaare Zameen Par is a profitable venture, while a few others believe its nothing but the manipulation of narrative.
Whatever it is, the film has definitely created hype with all the controversies, something that might have contributed to its box office collections too.
