
The monumental case of Shah Bano Begum is being adapted for a fictional film. In April, 1985 Shah Bano secured maintenance from her husband after divorce and it is considered important because this positively affected the women of the Muslim community at large.

Yami Gautam has been given the opportunity to bring Shah Bano to life on the big screens. She has recently witnessed decent success with Article 370, and has been chosen to portray the lead role in the 7 year long court battle.
As per the reports Emraan Hashmi will play the role of her husband, the opposition in the case. Emraan has appeared in versatile roles and given some acclaimed performances.

He recently appeared as the bad guy in Tiger 3, even though the film didn’t do as expected his role was appreciated. He is also set to do two Telugu films, Pawan Kalyan’s OG and Adivi Sesh’s Goodachari 2.
The director of the film Suparn Varma is well known for The Family Man season 2 and Rana Naidu. Fans hope that the film is able to deliver the gravitas of the case with nuance.
