Recently, Ajay Devgn’s highly anticipated film, Son of Sardaar 2, was postponed from July 25 to August 1, 2025, owing to Saiyaara’s unexpected box office triumph.
Fans across the internet celebrated Saiyaara, a film starring a non-star cast, exceeded everybody’s expectations, and now its dramatic popularity has even prompted Ajay and Jio Studios to recalculate their strategy.
Amidst all the trolling some trade analysts and media professionals have widely applauded Ajay’s decision to postpone the film.
Vishek Chauhan, owner of Roopbani Cinema, emphasized that Ajay is well experienced in both acting and film distribution, which gives him a solid background in understanding market trends.
According to him releasing SOS 2 alongside the unbeatable popularity of Saiyaara would result in an audience split, particularly on single screens where Ajay’s movies generate most business.
Trade analyst Atul Mohan also shared similar views and emphasized the importance of business sense over public perception, especially when a film has tough competitors.
These analysts believe that the postponement of the film allows for a stronger positioning and maximum box office collections.
However, not all fans are convinced with this move. Many trolls have accused the filmmakers and producers for running away at the last moment and paying these analysts to portray the postponement as a positive move.
the reality is that there is no substantial hype for SOS 2 among the audience at all. Despite having dropped multiple trailers songs and press interviews with the cast, the audience seems uninterested in what the film has to offer.
The media is trying it’s best to white wash Ajay’s image and show his blunders as strategies that come from experience.
However, not many are willing to accept that the film has little to no potential to grab audiences despite competition.
Although now, SOS 2 has to compete with Dhadak 2 on its new date and also faces pressure from the impending release of WAR 2.
If the predictions come true and the film fails to perform even on the new date, it’ll be difficult to hide the fact that big stars cannot compete with newcomers.
Will Ajay prove that his approach to filmmaking is the ultimate key to success in the industry, or will he lose his stardom to the up-and-coming stars of Bollywood? Only time can tell.
