SRK’s Dream Shelved: No Cast, No Budget, No Luck

SRK’s Operation Khukri Stuck Again

Back in 2018, when Shah Rukh Khan’s film Zero failed at the box office, he went on a long break from films. Around the same time, there were talks about him leading a film titled Operation Khukri, which was to be based on a real-life military operation. Red Chillies Entertainment had officially announced the project in 2017, with SRK expected to play the lead. However, once Zero flopped, Shah Rukh chose to step back from acting and the film was quietly shelved.

In the years since, producer Sunil Kheterpal has been trying to bring Operation Khukri back to life through various partnerships. Eventually, filmmaker Amit Sharma, known for Badhaai Ho and Maidaan, came on board as director and co-producer. According to reports, there were plans to begin production by the second half of 2025. But even the revival hasn’t gone smoothly. The project has faced several challenges again, including delays in development.

The biggest hurdle right now is that the story remains incomplete and no actors have been confirmed. Budget constraints are also creating problems for the makers. Most A-list actors are either booked for upcoming projects or simply too expensive to cast under the current financial setup. This situation has forced the team to hit pause on the film once more.

Interestingly, many still wonder why Shah Rukh Khan, who was originally meant to headline Operation Khukri, was not approached again. That question remains unanswered for now.
