The trailer of Batwara 1947 is out now, and it has created a lot of hype. Sunny Deol’s fans are excited to enjoy the film on the big screen, as it marks the collaboration of Sunny and Rajkumar Santoshi after a long gap.
However, a video of Sunny Deol is now grabbing a lot of attention on social media. The clip was taken during the promotion of the film, and the words said by Sunny became a topic of discussion everywhere.
Notably, the actor was speaking to the media when a journalist questioned him about how he sees Pakistan as a nation. Sunny replied by saying that if India is his mother, Pakistan is his mother’s sister and his aunt, adding that everyone is connected to each other.
Sunny’s statement has not been well-received by the public, as they reacted on social media and started criticizing the actor for what he said. Most of them addressed the fact that Pakistan was always an enemy of India and innocent Indians have lost their lives because the country supported terror activities.
People even questioned how Sunny could say that Pakistan is his sister. Others stated that all the actors of Bollywood are the same, as they don’t have any patriotism inside them and all they care about is the money that they will earn from the business of the movies.
A particular section even alleged that Sunny’s comments could be some kind of a strategy made by him or his team, aiming to get more attention towards Batwara 1947 and getting a good collection at the box office on the first day. A few alleged that Sunny’s hypocrisy has been exposed, where he portrays himself as a hero by bashing Pakistan and calls the same country his aunt.
Sunny Deol’s fans defended him, saying that an actor’s statement should not be made a reason to boycott or not watch his film at all. They even displayed some confidence, saying that Sunny’s supporters are enough to make the film a big success.
Meanwhile, questions are being raised about whether Sunny’s statement will impact the box office numbers of the film. Trade experts stated that although the trailer is good, it has not created the excitement that was needed for a Sunny Deol film. A few critics said that as of now, it might open at Rs. 7-8 crores, adding that if the controversy impacts, the collection might be below Rs. 5 crores.
On the other hand, Emraan Hashmi’s fans are happy since they believe that audiences will now shift their focus towards Awarapan 2. They even requested Emraan to avoid making similar statements and ignore the same, focusing more on talking about the film and its content.
Sunny’s statement has undoubtedly started a new debate. Let’s see if Batwara 1947 will repeat the success of Sunny’s last few films or if Awarapan 2 will get the advantage of the controversy generated due to Sunny’s interview.
