
Anupam Kher is all set to bring his directorial venture called Tanvi: The Great. It introduces Shubhangi Dutt as an autistic young girl who aspires to join the army and is supported by her mother, and grandfather played by Anupam Kher himself.

The film also has a stellar star cast that includes Jackie Shroff, Iain Glen, Karan Tacker, Boman Irani and others. The film is set to release on 18 July and marks Anupam’s second directorial stint after Om Jai Jagdish in 2002 which was a flop.
Having seen Sitaare Zameen Par that deals with a similar issue with a bunch of autistic youth, here we follow the trials of a single girl stuck between the prejudice of her family and the outside world. The trailer has been released recently and mixed responses are pouring in for it.

Many feel that the theme can have immense scope while others find the performance, especially the autism depicted by the lead, a bit unrealistic. The film is backed by Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Productions.
Ever since the Om Jai Jagdish debacle Anupam Kher didn’t try direction again. Fans are wondering if he can he prove himself as a director now.
