2024 was a tricky year for Bollywood Box Office. Some films outperformed, while some barely made it up to the mark.
The biggest hit of this year is the Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao starring Stree 2 which earned Rs 585 crore and emerged as the #1 Hindi language film of all time.
It is followed by by the Kartik Aaryan-led horror comedy, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, clocking a lifetime business of Rs 247 crore.
The third and fourth position is taken by the Ajay Devgn franchise Singham Again and the Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone starrer Fighter. While both the films performed averagely at the box office, they were considered successful with a lifetime business of Rs 240 crore and Rs 201.50 crore.
Ajay Devgn’s Shaitaan is at the fifth spot, which earned Rs 145 crore becoming a clean hit.
Next in line were the Dinesh Vijan-produced Munjya, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, Crew and Article 370, Laapataa Ladies, Madgaon Express, Srikanth, Kill, and Bad Newz.
While the year saw some great hits as well as a good share of flops, the total collection of the box office turned out around Rs 2500 crores.
In 2023, Shah Rukh Khan gave 3 hit films- Jawan, Dunki and Pathaan. Khan alone managed to collect around Rs 2700 crores.
He is called King Khan for a reason!
So in comparison, this year was a tough one for Bollywood. It has to pull up its socks in the coming year if it wants to perform better and put out more stories that connect with the audience.
