In an exciting update from Box Office Worldwide, Yami Gautam is set to headline Anand L. Rai’s upcoming horror-comedy Nayi Naveli.
The news comes as a surprise, as Yami replaces Kriti Sanon, who was earlier slated to play the lead. The project was supposed to be Kriti’s second collaboration with Anand L. Rai’s Color Yellow Productions after Tere Ishq Mein.
Sources reveal that Kriti had shown keen interest in Nayi Naveli and had even approved the script. However, in an unexpected development, Yami has now taken over the role. The reason behind this change has not been disclosed yet.
Known for her impactful performances in Article 370 and OMG 2, Yami will now lead the folklore-inspired story, which blends elements of horror and comedy — a fresh space for both the actress and the production house.
Despite the casting change, the film’s pre-production is on track, and shooting is expected to begin in late 2025. While the director’s name is yet to be announced, the makers are confident that Nayi Naveli will offer audiences a unique mix of humour and horror.
