YRF Ruined Hrithik Roshan’s Legacy to Save Themselves?

Hrithik Roshan in Alpha cameo debate

Alpha, the latest installment in the YRF Spy Universe, arrived at the big screen with a lot of expectations a few weeks ago. However, the audience hardly showed any interest, and it eventually did not work at the box office.

Meanwhile, one particular thing that has come into discussion right now is the cameo of Hrithik Roshan. Notably, a majority did not like the fact that the makers hinted at the cameo by adding a glimpse of the same in the trailer. This was marked as a big mistake in the marketing strategy.

Distributors stated that marketing should be done in such a way that nothing is revealed to the audience. Distributor Akshaye Rathi compared the situation to Pathaan, which had a cameo by Salman Khan, saying that the superstar has a fan base that can help him to take a big opening.

But with a film where there are two female leads, the inclusion of Hrithik becomes a marketing peg that can help to bring big numbers at the box office. Akshaye stated that the opening day figures of Alpha were a result of the cameo being revealed in the trailer.

On the other hand, netizens had something else to say about the cameo. Most of them criticized it by saying that it was an unnecessary addition to the film. They also pointed out the appearance of Hrithik in the film, saying that it was nothing less than a cartoon.

Some even described the cameo as meaningless, adding that it did not make any big impact. Hrithik’s fans were also disappointed, saying that the makers initially destroyed the aura of Kabir that was established in War (2019) with a very bad presentation of Hrithik in War 2. They said that the situation was the worst in Alpha.

Meanwhile, Hrithik’s fans are still expecting to see him in the upcoming installments of the Spy Universe. But with the failure of War 2 and Alpha, let’s wait and see how Yash Raj Films will move forward with this franchise.
