Reports are now doing the rounds that Hrithik Roshan’s long-announced film with Hombale Films may be directed by Telugu director Parasuram. If true, the development has come as a big shock because Parasuram’s recent track record has done very little to inspire confidence.
Parasuram began his career with Yuvatha and followed it up with Anjaneyulu, a film that was considered decent but failed at the box office. He then directed Sarocharu with Ravi Teja, which also ended up as a flop. In between, he delivered a few smaller successes like Solo and Srirastu Subhamastu. But the real turning point in his career came with Geetha Govindam. The Vijay Deverakonda-Rashmika Mandanna starrer became such a huge blockbuster that Parasuram immediately landed a film with Mahesh Babu.
That film was Sarkaru Vaari Paata. On paper, it looked like a major career leap. In reality, the film ended up being widely seen as mediocre, and even many Mahesh Babu fans were left disappointed. Parasuram lost a lot of credibility after that. He then tried to bounce back with The Family Star, but the film turned into an even bigger embarrassment. It was trolled heavily, rejected at the box office, and only strengthened the perception that Parasuram’s writing and storytelling had become outdated.
That is why the Hrithik Roshan rumours have triggered genuine shock. For many, Parasuram is not a director one would associate with a star of Hrithik’s stature, especially at a time when Hrithik himself needs a solid comeback. War 2 flopped badly, and even his latest cameo in Alpha has not generated the kind of excitement his fans expected.
Hrithik fans are naturally asking the same question: what exactly did Parasuram narrate that convinced him? Many in the industry see Parasuram as a filmmaker who still relies on old-school plot points, familiar emotional beats, and commercial formulas that no longer connect strongly with today’s audience. Geetha Govindam worked because the entertainment clicked. But his later films have only increased the backlash surrounding his sensibilities as a writer-director.
There is also another theory doing the rounds. Hrithik Roshan has long been trying to mount Krrish 4, a project that would require an enormous budget. Industry chatter suggests he is still looking for the right financial backing for that film, and some believe he may be signing outside projects partly to secure heavy remuneration and strengthen his position before taking Krrish 4 forward.
That may or may not be true. But if the Parasuram-Hrithik project actually materializes, it will immediately become one of the most scrutinized combinations in recent times. For Parasuram, it could be the biggest opportunity of his career after back-to-back setbacks. For Hrithik, it could be a risky move at a stage where he badly needs the right script, the right director, and a film that restores confidence in his choices.
If the rumors are true, the real curiosity now is simple: what exactly has Parasuram cooked this time to convince Hrithik Roshan?
