2022 is a mixed bag for Tollywood. From monumental successes like RRR to disastrous films like Liger, the industry has seen everything. The average category is almost disappearing which is a major cause of concern.
Irrespective of the hits and flops, there are certain production houses that went on making films and kept the industry running. Irrespective of the fact they made money or lost, they fed 1000s of Cine workers.
Naveen- Ravi’s Mythri Movie Makers:
Mythri Movie Makers banner is the powerhouse of Tollywood in a way. The happening producers – Naveen Yerineni and Ravi Shankar delivered Sarkaru Vaari Paata and Ante Sundaraniki this year while their biggies – Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy have finished their production in 2022. They co-produced films like Happy Birthday and Aa Ammayi Gurinchi Meeku Cheppali. They have Kushi and Amigos that are under-production this year and Pushpa 2 that just started rolling. And there is Ustaad Bhagath Singh was launched.
Naga Vamsi’s Sithara:
Young Producer Naga Vamsi is also among the most active producers in recent times. His Sithara Entertainments Banner had three releases this year – Bheemla Nayak, DJ Tillu, and Swathimuthyam. His bilingual film, Sir was supposed to release in December but was pushed to 2023 for a better date. He also has a small film titled ‘Butta Bomma’. He also pushed three more films (DJ Tillu 2, Panja Vaishnav Tej’s film, and Anaganaga Oka Raju) into production this year and they will release in 2023.
Dil Raju’s SVC:
Dil Raju is one producer who ensures constant feeding to theaters with back-to-back films. In 2022, his Sri Venkateswara Creations had three releases – Rowdy Boys, F3, and Thank You. He is having the fourth release with Varasudu for Sankranthi (considering it was made this year). He has Pan India biggie in hand with Shankar and Ram Charan (RC15).
Sudhakar Cherukuri’s SLV Cinemas:
Sudhakar Cherukuri is a special attraction in this list which is normally dominated by Senior producers. His SLV Cinemas has three releases this year – Aadavallu Meeku Joharlu, Virataparvam, and Ramarao On Duty. His next project – Dasara with Nani is almost done with its production in 2022.
Allu Aravind – Bunny Vas’s GA2 Pictures:
Bunny Vas’s GA2 Pictures, the sister concern of Geetha Arts delivered three films this year – Pakka Commercial, Urvasivo Rakshasivo, and 18 Pages. They also have Vinaro Bhagyamu Vishnu Katha which completed production in 2022.
Vamsi Reddy, Pramod’s UV Creations:
UV Creations produced Prabhas’s Radhe Shyam this year. They co-produced Pakka Commercial with GA2 Pictures and also, their sister concern – UV concepts has lined up Kalyanam Kamaneeyam for Sankranthi 2023. They also have Naveen Polishetty – Anushka’s film which completed the majority of shooting this year.
TG Vishwa Prasad – Vivek Kuchibhotla’s People Media Factory:
People Media Factory is the most happening banner of Tollywood this year with quality making as well as quantity. They made Karthikeya 2 and Dhamaka – both of them have ended up as hits. Karthikeya 2 has become a blockbuster in the Hindi markets as well. They have quite a few films in the pipeline as well including Goodachari 2 .
Abhishek’s Abhishek Agarwal Arts:
Abhishek Agarwal has become a nationwide name with the success of The Kashmir Files. He has co-produced films like Karthikeya 2 and Dhamaka with People Media Factory. His solo film, Tiger Nageswara Rao has completed a major chunk of production in 2022. He is also associated with Adivi Sesh’s G2 (Goodachari 2).
There are few other top production houses like Suresh Productions (Saakini Daakini, Dongalunnaru Jaagratha) Sunil Narang’s Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP (The Ghost and Prince), Matinee Entertainments (Acharya and Mishan Impossible), BVSN Prasad’s SVCC (Bhamakalapam and Ranga Ranga Vaibhavanga).
On the top of everything, there is DVV Entertainment whose only release is RRR but is still a massive project.
