Tollywood-directors-waiting

Telugu cinema is obviously on shortage of director’s who can command an audience on their own. Year after year we get few directors who threaten to reach that status with a stratospheric success but are immediately brought down to ground by a massive failure. Here are such 5 director’s who promised a lot but faced huge set back and are now looking for a big comeback.

Harish-ShankarHarish Shankar: After a disastrous debut with shock the director made a good comeback with Mirapakai. But the film that made him an overnight sensation as a director was Pawan Kalyan starrer Gabbar Singh. The director was flooded with offers post the stupendous success of the film but soon he was thrown on the pedestal with the commercial failure of Ramayya Vastavayya. All the offers that were on desk have now vanished and the director is working hard to put a project together. His film with Allu Arjun has been put on back burner with the director being asked ‘rework’ on his script. There is also a film with Ravi Teja in talks we have to see which one takes off.

Bhaskar: The director made a dream debut with Bommarillu which is regarded as a classic today. He followed it up with a family entertainer Parugu another success. The result he got the biggest chance of his career to direct a film for Ram Charan after Magadheera. The downfall Bhaskar had after Orange is nightmare of everyone who wants to become a director in his life. After a long gap he somehow got a film with Ram which also turned out to be a turkey. Now Bhaskar needs a miracle to make a comeback.

Nandini Reddy: On a smaller scale Nandini Reddy had a dream debut with Ala Modalaindi. The film made her one of the most sought after directors in Telugu cinema. She then got a project with Samantha and Siddharth in the lead and its failure has now almost made her a forgotten name in the industry all of a sudden. Nandini Reddy is now in talks with Nithin for her next film, we hope it materializes and the director strikes back again.

Dasarath: He can be called as the forefather of all the directors mentioned above. He has seen the high and loves which the above director’s are seeing now almost a decade ago when he made a sensational debut with Nagarjuna starrer Santosham. The success and awards that followed made the director a big name overnight that he has never touched again. He made a comeback after a long gap with Mr. Perfect but once again lost the advantage with Greekuveerudu. Can he stage a comeback again, it’s tough but not impossible.

RameshMeher Ramesh: The very mention of the name might irk some, but the fact is that the director has handled big stars so far. He has worked with the likes of Jr NTR, Prabhas and Venkatesh and knows how to mount a film on big scale, something that very few directors’ can. Imagine him getting it right for once, we could have another A-list director and the stars would have one more choice to pick from rather than sticking to the regular predictable ones. Can the director show the promise he came up with in reality for once?

Which one among the above mentioned director’s do you think can make a grand comeback and stay in success in foreseeable future? Share us your thoughts.
