An interesting development is currently generating strong excitement, as Malayalam filmmaker Basil Joseph is reportedly set to direct Allu Arjun for his landmark 25th film, tentatively titled AA25. While an official confirmation is still awaited, sources close to the project suggest that discussions are in advanced stages, and the collaboration is likely to be finalized soon.
This potential film is being described as a major cross industry collaboration, bringing together talent from Malayalam and Telugu cinema. The project is expected to be produced under Allu Aravind’s Geetha Arts. Given Allu Arjun’s massive pan India popularity across India, especially after the success of Pushpa, the announcement has already created excitement among fans, particularly in Kerala, where he enjoys a strong following.
However, this collaboration has also sparked a debate among fans. In recent times, Allu Arjun has been increasingly working with directors from other industries. He is already collaborating with Atlee and Lokesh Kanagaraj, both from Tamil cinema, and now potentially with a Malayalam filmmaker, Basil Joseph, for AA25. While this reflects his growing pan India ambitions and increasing markets in other languages as well, some fans are concerned about whether this trend might dilute the Telugu nativity that originally connected him with his core audience. Will Allu Arjun get distanced from his core Telugu audience and fans? Even Pushpa 2 wasn’t liked by Telugu movie lovers as much as the Hindi audience did.
There is also another big concern. Very rarely have non-Telugu directors managed to deliver big blockbusters in Telugu cinema. Adapting to local sensibilities, audience expectations, and cultural nuances is often challenging, even for experienced filmmakers.
That said, such collaborations also represent an evolving phase in Indian cinema, where boundaries between industries are gradually fading. If executed well, AA25 could become a memorable milestone in Allu Arjun’s career, as Malayalam filmmakers are known for making some of the most brilliant off beat yet interesting cinema.
