The biggest hurdle for Toxic in Telangana has finally been cleared, just hours before its theatrical release. The Telangana government has granted permission for a ticket price hike, allowing Rs 50 extra on single-screen tickets and Rs 100 extra in multiplexes for 10 days.
The permission comes with a condition. The producer has to transfer Rs 1 crore to the Telugu film employees’ welfare account.
The timing is crucial. Toxic is releasing on August 26, and advance bookings in the Telugu States were held up until the last minute over ticket pricing and special-show permissions. The film has already recorded strong advance sales in other markets, making the delay particularly noticeable.
But Telangana getting its GO does not completely end the suspense.
Andhra Pradesh is still the bigger question mark. The team had been seeking a ticket hike there as well, with premium pricing for special shows and additional hikes for regular shows being discussed. However, there is still no confirmed AP approval.
That leaves Toxic with one market finally sorted and another still hanging in the balance.
Telangana has given Yash the green signal. Now all eyes are on AP — and whether the final hours bring another GO before the first show.
