Andhra Pradesh government in its latest budget tabled on Thursday scrapped the Assembly Constituency Development Fund (ACDF). The government which is cash strapped due to the state bifurcation took this decision to save Rs 175 crore.
But such movie will leave the MLAs without any constituency development fund. Under ACDF, each MLA used to get Rs 1 crore and there are 175 Assembly segments in AP. However the Chief Minister assured the MLAs to approach him for any development works in their constituencies which he will pursue immediately.
Bogged down by the pressure of heavy fiscal and revenue deficits, Andhra Pradesh government had to cut down the allocations of various important departments including irrigation. The remaining departments have seen very little increase in allocations due to the low cash inflow.
