Unnecessary Pressure on Sreeleela to Do Impossible?

Sreeleela cast in Arundhati Hindi remake

The news of Arundhati’s Hindi remake has taken social media by surprise. Reports suggest that producer Allu Aravind plans to remake the iconic supernatural drama with Sreeleela in the lead, while director Mohan Raja is being considered to helm the project. Fans of Anushka Shetty, who immortalised the original character, are disappointed and puzzled by this move.

Many viewers feel remaking Arundhati makes little sense. The original has already reached millions across India through dubbed versions, OTT, and repeated TV telecasts. Even today, it stands as a cult classic for both Telugu and Hindi audiences, making a remake seem unnecessary.

The casting choice has raised eyebrows too. Sreeleela is still new to Bollywood, with no Hindi release yet. Fans wonder if she can carry such an iconic role. They believe Anushka Shetty’s royal grace, power, and authority as the Queen of Gadwal are unmatched, while Sreeleela’s youthful charm may not suit the grandeur required.

Observers also note that several South Indian hits have failed as Hindi remakes. Films like Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, Jersey, Hit, and Gaddalakonda Ganesh didn’t connect with the North audience. Even Bhaagamathie, a supernatural drama similar in tone, collapsed within a week at the Hindi box office.

Fans suggest that instead of remaking Arundhati, the makers should create a sequel with a fresh storyline. They believe a film featuring both Sreeleela and Anushka Shetty would attract audiences while preserving the original’s legacy.

For now, it remains unclear whether Allu Aravind’s project is genuine or just another social media rumour. Fans await official confirmation, while Sreeleela’s upcoming release Mass Jathara hits theatres in less than a day.
