All eyes in the industry, trade, and among moviegoers are eagerly awaiting the release of two major Eid films: “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan” and “Maidaan.”
Initially set for release on Wednesday, April 10, a shocking turn of events occurred just three days before the scheduled release date.
Today, the makers of “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan” decided to push the release from April 10 to April 11 (Eid) to benefit from the Eid holiday. This decision was influenced by the disappointing advance booking numbers for April 10.
The makers have also opted to shorten the runtime of “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan,” to get better showcasing in cinemas, especially in a clash scenario. The film will now run for 2 hours and 36 minutes, trimmed by approximately 7-8 minutes.
Bade Miyan Chote Miya was expected to collect 30 crores on its first day but now even a 20-crore collection on April 11 would be considered great seeing the sad state of advance bookings.
Also, those who booked their tickets on April 10 might not book their tickets again as they might lose interest and change their minds.
Also, such postponement at the last minute gives a feeling to the audience that the makers themselves aren’t confident about their product. The public is very shrewd nowadays and they understand these things from a distance.
There are also rumors circulating that the makers of the “Maidaan” might follow suit and also consider reducing its length.
Now there will be paid previews for both films on April 10 evening from 6 PM. Multiplexes have assured refunds for tickets sold for the morning to 6 PM shows on April 10.
