Nandamuri Balakrishna and director Koratala Siva are preparing to begin work on their much-awaited collaboration very soon. According to strong industry sources, the film is expected to have its official opening ceremony on May 21 before moving into regular shooting schedules. The project has already started generating strong curiosity because it marks the first-ever collaboration between Balakrishna and music sensation Anirudh, though official confirmation is still awaited.
Reports suggest Koratala Siva personally pushed to bring Anirudh onboard. Even though Anirudh reportedly charges a massive remuneration, the makers are said to have agreed because they believe his music and background score can significantly elevate the film’s impact. Industry insiders are now eagerly waiting to see whether Anirudh can deliver a background score for Balakrishna as memorable as the one he created for Rajinikanth in Jailer.
However, the biggest talking point currently revolves around the film’s rumored title. According to inside reports, the title Carpenter is under strong consideration for the project. Production banner Yuvasudha Arts has reportedly registered the title, indirectly signaling that the makers may have almost finalized it.
The title has attracted attention because it represents a grounded and relatable profession, which is rare for star hero films. In recent years, most top actors have largely played wealthy businessmen, powerful officers, or larger-than-life characters. A carpenter, on the other hand, is someone deeply connected to ordinary daily life, making the title instantly relatable to mass audiences.
Sources indicate that Balakrishna’s character in the film works as a carpenter but secretly carries a dark and violent past linked to a ruthless gangster life. Reports suggest the profession also carries symbolic importance in the narrative. Just as a carpenter repairs damaged furniture, Balakrishna’s character reportedly attempts to “repair” society and correct social injustice. Koratala Siva’s earlier film Janatha Garage also had a similar concept, which famously carried the caption, “Here all repairs will be done.”
Interestingly, Koratala had earlier portrayed Chiranjeevi as a carpenter in Acharya as well. Koratala seems to be revisiting the same profession with Balakrishna as a way of proving himself again after the disastrous result of Acharya. Koratala now faces pressure to deliver a blockbuster with Balakrishna, potentially even bigger and more genuine than the success he achieved with NTR’s Devara.
Meanwhile, reports also suggest that actress Vidya Balan is under consideration for the female lead opposite Balakrishna. If finalized, the casting would indicate that the makers are aiming to present Balakrishna in a mature and age-appropriate role rather than forcing a conventional commercial pairing.
