Why Balakrishna Films Cannot Afford Anirudh?

Nandamuri Balakrishna has lined up a strong slate of films, marking a decisive phase in his career. He is currently working on his NBK111 film with Gopichand Malineni. Following that, his 112th film with Koratala Siva has been officially announced as his next venture.

Earlier, there was strong speculation that Anirudh Ravichander might compose the music for this film. Given his recent collaboration with Koratala Siva on Devara, the idea created excitement. On paper, Anirudh scoring for a Balakrishna film sounded fresh and intriguing.

But realistically, it never quite added up.

Latest industry chatter suggests the makers are choosing between S. Thaman and Devi Sri Prasad for the project. That effectively puts an end to the Anirudh speculation, at least for now.

And that makes more sense.

Anirudh Ravichander has largely focused on films featuring younger tier-1 stars or major Tamil icons like Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. His choices are selective, and his schedule is packed. Bringing him on board is not just about interest. It also comes with timing constraints.

That is the key issue.

Anirudh’s workflow often leads to delays, and a film like this cannot afford to wait indefinitely for background scores or music delivery. Balakrishna’s projects, despite their scale, operate on tighter timelines. Waiting months just for one composer does not fit that model.

So, while the idea sounded exciting, it was always unlikely in practical terms.

For now, the decision seems to be between S. Thaman and Devi Sri Prasad, both proven names when it comes to delivering mass-heavy, commercially effective music for Telugu cinema.

An official confirmation is still awaited, and that choice will ultimately shape the musical identity of this film.
