Big stars sharing screen space always sounds exciting for movie lovers. Fans love watching top actors come together, but making such films is not easy. The biggest challenge is not casting two stars but giving both actors equal importance without disappointing their fans. If one hero gets more focus than the other, audiences immediately notice it and makers will have to face the brunt for life.
That is why industry circles are closely watching discussions around a possible film featuring Nandamuri Balakrishna and Mohanlal, directed by Vivek Athreya. For some time, rumors have suggested Vivek Athreya has been planning a project with Balakrishna. Earlier reports claimed Balayya would play dual roles in the film. But now, reports say Vivek Athreya could be planning something much bigger.
According to talk inside Tollywood, instead of giving Balakrishna two characters, Vivek Athreya may be trying to bring Mohanlal for one of the characters. If that happens, the film instantly becomes a massive multi-starrer.
But Balakrishna and Mohanlal have completely different screen styles. Balakrishna is known for larger-than-life heroism and mass appeal. Mohanlal is known more for emotional depth and subtle performances.
Combining both strengths naturally inside one story will not be a cakewalk. Many directors struggle to handle even one superstar image properly. Managing two senior stars with decades of popularity behind them becomes even harder. That is where Vivek Athreya becomes the biggest talking point. Unlike regular commercial directors, Vivek Athreya usually focuses heavily on character writing.
Mohanlal has shown before that language is never a barrier if he likes the script. If this combination finally happens, it could become one of Telugu cinema’s biggest casting surprises. But more than Balayya or Mohanlal, all eyes will be on Vivek Athreya and whether he can successfully balance two legends in one film.
Vivek Athreya is simultaneously also working on a script for Ravi Teja. We have to see which one materializes first.
