Clash with Dhurandhar 2? What Gives Ustaad This Courage?

The sudden news that Ustaad Bhagat Singh has been preponed to March 19 created a huge stir on social media. This update came just hours after reports about the postponement of Toxic. As soon as the news broke, fans of Pawan Kalyan celebrated the possibility of watching their star’s film earlier than expected. However, the sudden decision also raised questions among audiences about why the team is rushing the release and why the background score work moved from Devi Sri Prasad to Thaman.

One big reason appears to be the festival window in the third week of March. Both Ugadi and Ramadan fall during that period, creating a long holiday stretch of nearly four days. During such extended weekends, families and youth usually flock to theaters for entertainment. The makers seem to be trying to take advantage of this box office potential.

There are reports that Dhurandhar 2 might also postpone its release from March 19, although the chances are less. If the Hindi film releases as planned, it could affect Ustaad’s collections in urban centers like Hyderabad, where Dhurandhar 2 has massive craze. Even so, the producers of Ustaad Bhagat Singh believe that the core audience for Pawan Kalyan in the Telugu states is different and that family audiences may ignore Dhurandhar 2.

Another factor is the relatively open release calendar in the last week of March. Festivals such as Sri Rama Navami and Good Friday fall close to that period, along with a weekend, which could further boost box office numbers. If the film receives positive word of mouth and the government allows temporary ticket price hikes, especially in Andhra Pradesh, the collections could reach very high levels during the first ten days.

However, the decision also creates a tight production schedule. The team must finish the remaining dubbing work, complete the background score, and prepare the final edit quickly. The film also needs to go through censor certification. All of this must happen within roughly ten days, which explains why the makers are now working at full speed to deliver the final print on time.
