Adivi Sesh’s Dacoit: A Love Story, also starring Mrunal Thakur, is now heading for its OTT release after completing its theatrical run. Directed by Shaneil Deo, the romantic action thriller released in theatres on April 10, 2026, and received a mixed response. While reactions were divided, the makers claim the film managed a decent run, collecting around Rs. 45–50 crore worldwide.
The film is officially set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on May 8, 2026. It will be available in Telugu along with Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. Although a Hindi version was released in theatres, it will not be available on OTT immediately due to the standard eight-week window rule. It is expected to arrive on the same platform once that period ends.
During its theatrical run, a section of the audience expressed disappointment, particularly with the writing. Adivi Sesh, who is known for his sharp storytelling and gripping screenplays, was seen as missing the mark this time. Despite handling the story and screenplay himself, the film was widely described as flat and underwhelming, with many viewers feeling it did not live up to expectations and ended up as a dull watch.
Now, the focus shifts to its OTT performance. Streaming audiences are often more critical and harsher, and reactions can be brutal compared to theatres. It remains to be seen whether Dacoit finds a second life on OTT, with viewers appreciating nuances that may have been overlooked earlier, or if it faces stronger backlash for its drawbacks.
