Dhurandhar 2 BO Weaker Than Part 1: What Went Wrong?

Dhurandhar 2 box office weekend performance

Dhurandhar: The Revenge has delivered strong box office numbers and created several records. However, its third weekend performance shows that the first part still leads in terms of collections. This trend has surprised trade analysts and industry observers.

According to Bollywood Hungama, the first film collected Rs. 23 crores on the first day of its third weekend. It then earned Rs. 35 crores and Rs. 40 crores, taking the total to Rs. 99 crores.

In comparison, Dhurandhar: The Revenge opened its third weekend with Rs. 21 crores. It followed with Rs. 25 crores and Rs. 28 crores, reaching a total of Rs. 74 crores. These figures indicate a noticeable gap between the two films.

The third weekend numbers have drawn attention as sequels are usually expected to outperform the original. Since this has not happened, trade experts have labelled the sequel as frontloaded in its box office trend.

The first film also saw a drop during its third weekend. It declined by around 32 percent from Rs. 146 crores in the second weekend. Despite this, it managed to maintain stronger momentum compared to the sequel.

Trade experts believe the current trend is not a major concern. Taran Adarsh noted that the first film was smaller in scale compared to the sequel. He added that the second week performance remains more significant.

There is still uncertainty about whether the sequel will cross Rs. 1,000 crores. While the second week brought in Rs. 229 crores, the third week has slowed down, with collections dropping to Rs. 7 crores on the third Wednesday.

The upcoming weekend may bring a temporary boost in numbers. However, weekday collections are expected to remain in single digits. The film’s total in India currently stands at Rs. 893 crores.

With several new releases scheduled in the coming weeks, competition is likely to increase. It remains to be seen whether Dhurandhar: The Revenge can sustain momentum and enter the Rs. 1,000-crore club.
