Tamil Hero Thalapathy Vijay has created history by becoming the chief minister of Tamil Nadu in his very first attempt. In the meanwhile, his farewell film Jana Nayagan, which faced multiple problems before the release is now finally arriving in theatres.
The film released in theatres today, July 23, and it could have very well done miracles if the film was executed well, considering the hype surrounding Vijay. There were multiple doubts about the capabilities of Director Vinod though.
Now the reactions and reviews for this film have been extremely discouraging as it is being labelled as a template commercial film that has scenes and visuals from a decade ago.
The early reactions and reviews for this film, have been calling it cringe and crass. This is extremely detrimental for a film that has so much money involved and also has the reputation of CM Vijay at stake.
This appears to be a bad miscalculation from Vijay to go for a poor directorial choice. When the discussion was about his farewell, they should have been certain parameters that should have been established by Vijay in the first place.
Remaking a solid commercial film is not a bad idea and Vijay has successfully done this many times in the past, but going for the right creative person to handle it is much more important. This is exactly where Vijay appears to have taken a bad step.
As a result, his fans who had been patiently waiting for his farewell film in theatres are now delivered a brutal shock as the film doesn’t match expectations and turns out to be a torture fest.
