Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay‘s final film Jana Nayagan directed by H Vinoth, is gearing up for a worldwide theatrical release on July 23rd. With only a few hours left until the release, pre-bookings are now happening in full swing.
Now, all eyes are on Jana Nayagan‘s first-day collection and whether it can break Vijay’s previous movies’ records. Even though Jana Nayagan was leaked online and its release was delayed for a long time, the pre-booking numbers are solid in Tamil Nadu.
According to reports, many theatres in Tamil Nadu are already reporting housefull shows for Day 1 and Day 2. Meanwhile, since yesterday, Jana Nayagan has been continuously trending on the BookMyShow ticket booking platform, with more than 10K tickets being booked per hour.
In contrast to this, Jana Nayagan’s overseas pre-bookings seem dull, as in North America, advance sales currently stand at $206K, which is very low compared to Vijay’s standards.
Starting from Mersal, all of Vijay’s films have posted solid Day 1 numbers, as Mersal collected around 47 crores on its Day 1, Sarkar 67 crores, Bigil 62.85 crores, Master with 50% occupancy due to COVID-19 restrictions collected 50.01 crores, Beast 86.51 crores, Varisu 47.52 crores, Leo 146 crores and Vijay’s last film, The GOAT, collected 104.75 crores on its Day 1.
In response to the current booking trend, many trade experts are suggesting that Jana Nayagan might collect around 80 crores to 90 crores worldwide on its opening day and will stand third, following Leo and GOAT.
They claim that despite the film being leaked online, these figures are unimaginable for any star actor in the Kollywood industry. They also suggest that if Jana Nayagan had been released as planned, it might have even crossed Leo’s opening day figures.
However, it remains to be seen how Jana Nayagan is going to perform at the box office and whether it emerges as a blockbuster success, resulting in a memorable farewell for actor Vijay.
