Janhvi Kapoor’s presence in Peddi, starring Ram Charan and directed by Buchi Babu Sana, has been surprisingly low so far, especially considering the film’s massive hype.
Till now, she has only appeared in the song “Chikiri Chikiri,” and even there, most of the attention went to Ram Charan’s energetic performance. The next song, “Rai Rai Raa Raa,” focused completely on the hero, leaving no space for her. On top of that, talks about a separate item song featuring another actress have made people feel that Janhvi is not getting her due as one of the highlights in the film’s promotions.
According to industry talk, there is also no big duet song between Ram Charan and Janhvi in the film. This is quite different from the usual commercial films, where the hero and heroine get multiple songs together. It looks like the director is trying a slightly different approach with their pairing.
There are also rumors that Janhvi’s role has an important twist, which will be revealed only in the second half. Because of that, the makers may be intentionally keeping her presence low in promotions to avoid giving away too much.
Interestingly, Janhvi herself has been very silent. She is attending podcasts and doing interviews, but she hasn’t talked much about Peddi anywhere, which is unusual for a big project like this.
There is also buzz about her being part of Raaka with Allu Arjun, but that has not been officially confirmed yet. In Bollywood, however, she is yet to deliver a real big hit or win major critical acclaim.
Because of this, Peddi has become a very important film for her. If it becomes a big hit, it can help her settle strongly in Telugu cinema. But if it does not work, it may continue the same uncertain phase she is already facing.
At the same time, there are a few doubts here. Is the team really hiding her role for a surprise, or does she actually have limited screen space? In big hero driven films, heroines sometimes end up with less importance, and promotions often reflect that. Also, her silence in promotions raises these doubts.
The makers seem to be holding something back about Janhvi, but whether that turns into a strong impact or ends up as a missed opportunity will only be clear after the film releases.
On the release side, June 4 is now being discussed as the likely date for Peddi. With Yash’s Toxic facing uncertainty, the makers are expected to take that slot, though there is still no official confirmation.
