Kantara: Chapter 1, directed by Rishab Shetty, is set for a worldwide theatrical release on October 2. After the blockbuster success of Kantara, the prequel carries huge expectations, and excitement grew even more after the trailer launched recently.
Speculation in the North Indian market has stirred debate. Reports suggest the makers of Kantara: Chapter 1 are asking single, double, and triple-screen theatres not to share shows with Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, which releases on the same day.
Audiences in the North have called this unfair. They argue Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari is a direct Hindi film, while Kantara: Chapter 1 is a Kannada release. Viewers feel both films should share theatres fairly and reach their own audiences.
Distributors demanding a 100% screen count has not gone down well. Many believe both movies deserve equal opportunity, and healthy competition is better than blocking screens. They say restricting screens damages the market balance.
Others believe the team of Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari should have shifted their release date. They argue clashing with a Pan-Indian film like Kantara: Chapter 1 was risky. A later date could have given them a smoother run.
Despite these arguments, no official statement has been made. Now, all eyes are on October 2 to see if Kantara: Chapter 1 dominates theatres across North India or if Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari manages to hold ground in the clash.
